Ashoka Pillar

Vaishali derives its name from King Vishal, whose story is narrated in the Ramayana. The world’s first democracy with a duly elected council– Vajji, had its seat of administration in Vaishali.

Ashoka Pillar at Vaishali is one of the most famous and the most visited tourist spot in India. The pillar is 50m in height.

Moreover, it is the National Emblem of India. It marks the visit of Ashoka to Vaishali.

Also known as the ‘Singh Stambh’ or Lion Pillar, this pillar is supposed to have been built by Emperor Ashoka. It is pillar one of the masterpieces in the art of sculpting. Four lions crown this pillar. These lions form the national emblem of India.

Also, the oldest archaeological museum of India has been built a periphery at the complex.
