Fatehpur Sikri is a vast complex of monuments and temples. In fact, all the palaces inside this are made in same architectural style. Mughal Emperor Akbar built this beautiful monument.

Highlight: The main highlight of this site is the Jama Masjid.

Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India. Also, it is a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, devotees from all over the country often visit this pilgrimage site. Furthermore, Fatehpur Sikri was named after a village named Sikri on which the monument stands today.

Fact: It is one of the most visited sites in the city of Agra.

Moreover, the complex of Fatehpur Sikhri has various individual monuments. Actually, Akbar had many wives of different customs, religions and castes. In addition, each of them had a separate monument in which they used to rest and spent most of their times.

Fatehpur Sikri was officially announced as the capital of Agra after Akbar had his child with Jodha Bai.

Other such structures include:

  • Diwan-i-aam – hall for the local people.
  • Diwan-i-khaas– hall for important kings, family members and people.

Not to mention, the complex is a great combination of Mughal, Persian, Hindu and Christian architecture. Fatehpur Sikri is a wonderful place to take a glimpse at all the architectural styles of India at one place.

“I am that person who dropped her B.Tech (really!) and chose to travel, specifically travel blogging. I’m Manmeet Kaur, a crazy, fun loving and adventurous person from Delhi. I knew I had an interest in writing since I was in school. I didn’t want to be an engineer, doctor or I would say a teacher. My plans were different. I wanted to travel which I guess no one,  specially girl had chosen to do in my family for a living. And like other human beings on this planet I have big dreams too. But my ultimate dream is to travel the world and share my experiences through writing and blogging.” 🙂
