Jantar Mantar Jaipur is a very famous astronomical observatory built in 1734 for the study of space and time. In fact, it was considered the largest observatories ever built.
In addition, Jantar Mantar consists of 19 astronomical instruments which caught the eye of many astronomers, architects and historians around the world.
Furthermore, “Smarat Yantra”, the world’s biggest sundial houses here. Moreover, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Also, King Sawai Jai Singh built this monument along with other Jantar Mantar in various cities like New Delhi, Jaipur, Mathura, Varanasi, and Ujjain. Not to mention, it is the largest observatory among all.
Unfortunately, Jantar Mantar Jaipur was destroyed in the 19th century. Then, Major Arthur Garrett, a keen astronomer took the work of restoration.
